New Lanark Mill Hotel

Fabulous stay, with beautiful senary and a lot of history

We were completely exhausted when we checked in and delighted to find a comfy bed with lovely views over the river. We rested for a while and then went to the spa. The pool was just the right temperature as was the sauna and steam room. It was very relaxing. We enjoyed a great meal it was very tasty and served quickly. I'm vegan and gluten free and the choice for me was excellent. We then strolled around outside for a while catching the setting sun. The scenery was gorgeous. We slept really well and again enjoyed the spa facilities before a hearty breakfast and checked put completely refreshed at 11am the next day. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. My wife and I stayed at the New Lanark Mill Hotel a few weeks ago. There were some great things about our stay - the female staff were very helpful, the rooms were clean, and we enjoyed the spa. However, there were quite a few things which weren't as good as they could have been: 1. The keycard system wasn't working, so whenever we needed into our room, we had to ask at reception for a staff member to let us in. 2. When we first arrived in our room on the Friday night, we were disappointed that the bed was small - it was a double, rather than a king. When we asked the man on reception about this, he said that all the rooms had double beds. However, this wasn't true. He also told us that fridges had been removed from rooms because some customers had been stealing the contents. When we asked the next day at reception, they were able to move us to a room with a king size bed and a fridge. 3. Our breakfast was very slow to arrive (we probably waited half an hour for breakfast after ordering, both mornings - and the second day this wait was for porridge!). The staff told us breakfast was so slow because there was only 1 chef working (they'd normally have 2). 4. I ordered a vegan breakfast the first day. The waiter told me they could just make the vegetarian breakfast vegan. I expected they would remove the non-vegan items, and give me more of the vegan items. But what arrived (after half an hour's wait) was half a vegetarian breakfast - they'd made the vegetarian breakfast vegan just by removing the non-vegan items (see photos)! The vegetarian breakfast on the menu listed: - vegetarian sausages (I got 1) - grilled tomato (I got 1/2) - sauteed mushrooms (I got these) - beans (I got these) - potato scone (I didn't get this) - eggs All in all, we were left a bit disappointed by our stay. Given the problems with the key cards and the kitchen staffing, we might have expected to be offered a discount, but none was offered. I emailed the hotel with the complaints above, but got no reply! Avoid!

We went for our wedding anniversary and were deeply disappointed. Our room had a disabled wetroom which looked like an old swim bath change room. Mould everywhere on floor, walls and very unclean. We asked to change rooms but they were fully booked. Also went for afternoon tea and it was awful. The sandwiches looked like a toddler had made them with ham or cheese as the option. One macaroon and 3 slices of differently sliced cake? Dry scones and no clotted cream. It was such a shame as staff were really helpful and surrounding beautiful. Would rather have stayed at Premier Inn.

It was a really super stay at New Lanark Mill Hotel. Comfortable room, welcoming friendly staff, good food, nice bar, lovely pool and steam room. Interesting historical site, nice cafe and shop. I am a gluten free vegetarian and had no problem with meals.
